Engineering a Career Path Through Data Analysis
Similar to a data analytics pipeline, my career journey involves exploration, visualization, analysis, and planning for future steps, guiding me towards my aspirations. Enrolling at Pulchowk Campus to pursue a Bachelor in Electronics and Communication Engineering marked my first small step towards exploring my passion and interests.
Over those four years, I had the privilege of meeting numerous incredible minds and immersing myself in the world of technology. Experimenting with various fields, including robotics, circuit design, cybersecurity, AI, and public speaking, I uncovered the best version of myself while delving into the world of Data Analytics. To turn this dream into reality, I leaped and am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Data Analytics at George Washington University.
Engaging in various data projects in different roles, I’ve found the process of learning and growing from challenges to be exceptionally enjoyable. My problem-solving skills, refined through engineering background, have proven invaluable, and perseverance has been a constant guide in this transformative journey towards data analytics. This distinctive blend of engineering and data analytics not only enhanced my skills but also deepened my understanding of the dynamic interplay between technology, data, and the persistent determination required to solve complex problems.
Education
I am currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Data Analytics at the George Washington University. Prior to this, I earned my Bachelor in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Pulchowk Engineering Campus, Tribhuvan University. This educational journey has equipped me with a strong foundation in engineering, complemented by the specialized knowledge and skills gained in the field of data analytics. I am enthusiastic about applying this combined expertise to contribute meaningfully in both academic and professional settings.
Experiences
Work isn’t just a routine when it holds the power to make a real difference and help people. It’s when my mind delves deeper, my horizons expand, and ideas I never knew existed suddenly spark into life. To bring out the best in myself and truly thrive, I actively seek opportunities tied to a cause because that’s where my heart beats loudest, and my talents shine brightest. This drive isn’t merely about doing a good job; it’s about transforming into the best version of myself, fueled by the power of purpose.
In my role as a graduate assistant for GWServes Database Management at the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service—a department at GW dedicated to integrating civic engagement into the university’s educational mission—I had the valuable opportunity to customize the GWServes database platform. This platform is integral to volunteer management at George Washington University, enabling us to tailor service opportunities for students based on their interests, preferences, and schedules. What truly inspires me is the idea of assisting students as they seek to contribute to the DC community, utilizing our institution’s resources and optimizing the capabilities of the GWServes platform.
Likewise, as a Business Process Engineer at Ebolt Mobility Pvt. Ltd, a company committed to introducing e-mobility in Nepal, I was tasked with establishing a robust data analytics pipeline. This involved collecting data from diverse sources, transforming it into suitable formats, utilizing advanced tools for visualization and analysis, and creating forecasting models for annual electric scooter production. Engaging in surveys to understand the unique needs of customers across demographics was equally exciting, driving the creation of an electric scooter with a customer-centric design. The blend of technology, innovation, and consumer insights made each day a dynamic adventure at the forefront of e-mobility transformation.
Similarly, in my role as the Treasurer for the IEEE Pulchowk Student Branch, I gained the outstanding opportunity to infuse excitement into the academic journey of undergraduate students by integrating research and hands-on learning. Throughout this one-year period, we initiated engaging tech talks featuring brilliant minds, igniting a spark of innovation in various technical domains. It was a progressive experience, contributing to the vibrant intellectual atmosphere and fostering a culture of curiosity and exploration among undergraduate students.
Projects
My journey into data analytics included tackling various projects, a process that strengthened my belief in the perfect fit of this field for me. I engaged in diverse roles across a range of projects—some connected to my coursework, while others were personal hobby pursuits, allowing me to explore my interests deeply.
In addition to the aforementioned projects, I have actively engaged in various hobby projects, including Twitter Sentiment Analysis, COVID-19 Literature Clustering, Cardiac Arrhythmia Detection, and the creation of a weather station. These projects have played a pivotal role in allowing me to delve deeper into the realms of Natural Language Processing and other advanced tools within the field of deep learning. My journey as a self-starter and learner has been greatly enriched by platforms such as Kaggle and AnalyticsVidya, which provide invaluable data and tutorials to support and enhance the learning experience.

The paper proposes an automated class attendance system using Facenet for advanced feature embeddings and four classification models, highlighting the enhanced resilience of Tuned Support Vector Classifier with RBF Kernel to noise and contrast variations, achieving accuracies of 0.99334, 0.98990, and 0.90619 on distinct datasets.Read more …
This project explores the long-standing existence of private and public schools in Nepal, analyzing the performance differences based on school types through statistical tools, revealing that students in private schools tend to obtain higher marks, and employing techniques like kernel density estimation, Z-score test, and linear regression to demonstrate the impact of gender and predict final term marks with greater accuracy in private schools.Read more …

Sometimes, when delving into new fields, I find that taking courses, rather than constantly navigating through internet resources, is a rewarding approach. These courses, led by professionals, offer structured learning experiences and valuable insights, allowing me to systematically gain knowledge from experts worldwide. I’m particularly grateful for the courses mentioned below. They were not only a favorite pastime during the challenging days of COVID but also instrumental in sparking my passion for the world of data analytics. It all began with completing these certifications, which allowed me to immerse myself in the field of data. This journey ultimately led me to make one of the best decisions for my professional career—enrolling in graduate school for Data Analytics.
Awards
Every award echoes the message, “We have faith in you.” This trust from remarkable organizations fuels my journey, propelling me beyond doubts and obstacles. More than mere recognition, these awards serve as a guiding light, pushing me closer to my dreams and aspirations.
In recognition of my academic and extracurricular achievements, I am proud to have received the AAUW International Master Degree Fellowship for 2022-2023, with award amount of $18,000. This prestigious award is granted by AAUW, a renowned organization founded in 1881 that serves as one of the largest global supporters of graduate women, enabling them to pursue their aspirations. Additionally, this achievement was highlighted in GW Today, further recognizing this accomplishment.
In the academic domain, I was also honored with the Ncell Scholarship during my third year for achieving the highest score among all female students across the five faculties—Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Computer, Civil, and Mechanical. The scholarship is worth Rs. 100,000.
Beyond academics, my dedication to community service was recognized with The President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award, acknowledging a total of 469 hours of service in the year 2023.
Furthermore, my participation in ABU Robocon, an Asian-Oceanian college robot competition, added a practical dimension to my academic journey. The event took place in Vietnam in 2018 and Mongolia in 2019, where I along with my team represented team Nepal. In 2018, we were honored with the Best Shuttlecock Award, and in 2019, we received the Rohm Award.
Adventures of Teaching and Storytelling
A friend once asked, “Will you ever consider teaching as your career?” My response was a resounding “Never!” Little did I know, just a year later, I would discover the immense joy of sharing my experiences with a wider audience through the magic of storytelling, mentoring, and tutoring. Since then, I’ve connected with countless students across elementary, middle, high schools, and even universities, weaving tales that spark curiosity and ignite imaginations.
I have been involved as a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) teacher at Rai School and Brihaspati Vidyasadan School, where I nurtured the minds of students from first graders to high school seniors, guiding them through the fascinating world of STEAM fields. I then transitioned into middle school math tutoring at John Hayden Johnson Middle School in the District of Columbia, USA as a part of GW Math Matters, aiding young minds in understanding the complexities of numbers. And as a hardware fellowship instructor at Pulchowk Campus, I introduced the world of robotics to freshman engineering students, igniting their passion for technology. Beyond these formal roles, I’ve also delivered talks to undergraduate students, sharing my personal experiences in robotics and inspiring them to embark on their own journeys of discovery.
There’s an indescribable joy in connecting with the world through the lens of my own experiences. The quote “Knowledge is power” resonates deeply with me as I witness the transformative impact of sharing my knowledge base with diverse audiences from all walks of life. I find immense satisfaction in breaking down complex stories and simplifying them to create meaningful connections with each listener.
So, while I’ll forever be a dedicated learner, my passion for storytelling and connecting with others through knowledge will never cease. This journey of sharing and learning is a lifelong pursuit, one that brings me immense joy and fuels my desire to connect with the world around me.
